RSU Conservation Field Trip

Our homeschool group went on a fieldtrip to Rogers State University this past Tuesday.  We learned about Conservation and some interesting things. Did you know that a bullfrog remains a tadpole for 2 years? Did you know that a butterfly has a long tongue to drink and only drinks from vegetation and fruit nectar, not from pools of water? That's about all I retained :) I hope the kids learned more than I did. Here are some photos of our trip:

AHS Promotion Night

Last Thursday, our homeschool group had a promotion night. All the kids were recognized for completing this school year and promoted to their next grade level. It was fun for them to have their name called and get to go up and receive their medal and certificate. After the awards, everyone got a free ice cream from the ice cream truck. Lots of fun!

Actually, we are only going to keep one of them.  The other will go to a friend of ours.  But, we have them both for a few days.  Don't they look like they will fit right in?   They don't have a name yet.  We are having a contest to name them.  We will let you know what names we picked soon:

Soccer Tournament

Sadie's team played in the GCSA tournament this past weekend and took 2nd place!! Most of these girls have been together for a few years and have really come a long way.   And, they ALL get along really well (which is almost unheard of).  It was so much fun watching them win their bracket against Wagoner to play in the finals.  I didn't even mind that it was Mother's Day :)  They did a great job.

Strawberries

The kids and I picked strawberries last week and we have been enjoying our harvest, having them w/ angel food cake :) It was a perfect day to be out picking. We also picked a few blueberries, but there weren't that many ripe enough yet. We will go back in a week or two to pick more blueberries.

Hopefully, we will be making more preserves this summer!

Conversations with Silas

Silas:  Hey mom.  Eli called Josiah poopy.  And, Josiah called Eli "Bark" Bag.

Me:  Really?  You didn't call anyone a name did you?

Silas:  (thinking) Uh, no, I just thought I would tell you. 

a few seconds later

Silas: Hey mom.  Is Six Flags @ Aunt Sue's?

Me:  Yes, it is near Aunt Sue's.

Silas:  And, Silver Dollar City is @ Meemaw's?

Me:  Yes, it is close to Meemaw's house.

Silas:  And, the Summerfest is @ Mamoo's?

Me:  Yes, it is close to Mamoo's house.

Silas:  I thought so.  Now, when do we get to go to them?  Do I have to ask daddy?

I really do love this boy :)  And, I love these "conversations" with him.

Meet One of Our New Neighbors . . .

We call him Snowball, but his real name is Jake.   He is such a sweet dog. 

Silas is his name, baseball is his game

He LOVES baseball! We have to count how many sleeps until his next game. When it is game day, he comes into my room first thing in the morning and asks if he can get his uniform on and get ready for his game. His snack turn isn't until the last of May and he is already asking me to fix vanilla wafers to take to his team. I'd say he loves baseball. :)

Acoustic Alchemy

After the field trip in OKC, we drove to Dallas. We celebrated Aaron's 42nd birthday there. He wanted to surprise the kids and take them to the Acoustic Alchemy concert at McDavid Studio in Ft. Worth. We try to go every year to see this group when they play in the Dallas area. The secret was kept until time to pick up the tickets, when Lizzy just happened to see a sign advertising the concert. Lizzy is ALWAYS the first one to know. :) I've included a little clip of one of their songs they played that night at the end, so be sure and take a minute to listen. You will enjoy it, just ignore my camera work. Ha!

This outside of Bass Hall (where we originally thought the concert was).  It is a beautiful building.  We hope to come back here sometime and actually see a performance inside the Hall.
