Regionals in Wichita

Well, I know that many of our family members have been waiting to see how Lizzy did in her Regional meet this past weekend. My computer monitor has been dead since returning from Dallas on Fourth of July weekend, so I have been unable to post. They finally sent us the right cord for our computer yesterday.

I can't say enough how proud I am of Lizzy. Not because of her talent, but because this has pushed her to work for something that she wanted to achieve. She has worked so hard, and for that I am proud of her. She placed 5th in the 100m and 4th in the 200m, which means she did not qualify for Nationals. You have to place 1st-3rd to go to Nationals. We think she had an excellent season for this being the first time she has ever run track! I have included the video from her preliminary 100m race, where she placed 2nd and qualified for the finals the next day. My batteries went dead (twice) when trying to video the other two races, so I didn't get those. UGH!! We didn't get a great shot of the race, because everyone flocks to the front of the stands when these races start and put up their umbrellas!! So frustrating! But, you can tell that she came out of the blocks quickly, probably the best I've seen her yet, it's just that the girl next to her was a machine. She told Lizzy that she lived right across the street from the stadium and her dad brought her there to practice all the time. No telling how long she has been doing this.

It was a great experience for her and she can't wait for next season! Even though it was miserable sitting out in the heat all day waiting for her races, a part of me is sad that her season is over :)
