Lizzy's State Track Meet

Entry fee for Lizzy to compete in State : $12
Entrance fee for the whole family to watch : $25
Gas to OKC : $75
Gatorade, water, and snacks for the meet : $75
Sitting from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the 103 degree temps: pure torture
Watching Lizzy place 3rd in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m : PRICELESS!!!

This video is of her final 200m run. She ran it at about 5:00 p.m., after sitting in the 103 degree heat all day. She started out slow and was in 4th place for a little while, until she turned it on at the end and sucked the 2nd place girl up and added a little lean. That lean at the end got her second place!! She qualified for Regionals (not just in one event, but two events) at Wichita State University in 2 weeks. She has blown everyone away w/ her progress and the fact that this was her first year to be in track. I've included some pics of the family. Mom, dad and grandma braved the heat w/ us.

My friend, Michelle, sent this link to me. The kids and I thought it was pretty amazing.

Acoustic Alchemy

Each year, Aaron and I take a trip to Dallas to see Acoustic Alchemy. We made that yearly trip this past Thursday and Friday. We had a great time, as always, enjoying really good food and really good music. Everyone always asks me what type of music they play, so I've included a clip for you to hear one of their more popular songs. This was at the Granada Theatre last year in Dallas, the only year we didn't make their show in the past 5 years. Hope you enjoy!

OKC Track Meet

Today we travelled to OKC to Douglas High School for Lizzy's meet. She placed 2nd in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m. She placed 1st in both of her heats, but the 2nd heat was a little faster.

This video shows her 100m race first where she is in lane 7, then goes right into the 200m where she is in lane 5.

Sadie is the only one of her siblings that wanted to brave the heat w/ us. The rest of them stayed w/ mom and dad. Isn't she a great sister for wanting to come and cheer her sister on!

We are so proud of the improvements that she has made in just a few short weeks. She has worked so hard for this. We travel to OKC again, next week for State. If she places there, she would go to Regionals in Wichita, KS.

Silas wasn't feeling too well at church yesterday. I think it was because we were out in the sun all day the day before at Lizzy's track meet. So, Aaron had to go and get him from the nursery and they hung out in the foyer during service.

He doesn't look like he could be much trouble, does he?

This is how I found him after service, asleep across his daddy's lap. Too cute!

Homeschooling w/ Dad

A few days ago, Aaron brought home some dead baby bats. A guy at his work had bats living in the eave of his home that had given birth. So, he brought Aaron a couple of the dead ones. We left them in the baggy too long and they started to decay a little, so you can see a few maggots, too. Sorry to those who have a queasy stomach. It was a good science lesson for them (and me, too.) I didn't know that bats eat mosquitos! Maybe we should keep a few around our house :)

Lizzy Wins the Gold!

Lizzy had a track meet yesterday at East Central High School here in Tulsa. She got 1st in the 100m dash w/ a time of 15.07! It was very exciting!

Here she is in the 200m dash. She is in the red shirt. She starts off strong and pulls ahead fast, but loses steam in the last 50m or so. She placed 2nd in her heat. Great job, Lizzy!

6 on 6-6

Henry had his 6th birthday this past Saturday at my mom and dad's house. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and made home made ice cream and the kids had fun swimming in the new pool (it was too cold for the adults!).

My beautiful little man!
He really liked his birthday cake!

Henry is really into monster trucks right now, so mom made him this monster truck cake. I think she did a really good job on it!

Opening his new Bible. We gave each one of the children a Bible on their birthday when they started reading on their own.

I don't remember how many bowls of ice cream Sophie had!

Yes, Silas is wearing a pink swimmer diaper! They were left over from Sophie and I was not about to let them go to waste. He won't remember any of this.

They were all shivering, the water was sooo cold.

Happy Birthday, Henry! Mommy and Daddy are so glad that God sent you to our family! You are such a blessing!
