Gifts for Teachers

Today, the girls (well, Sophie just ate the marshmallows), mom and I made these neat little gifts for their Wednesday night Missionettes teachers. It is their last night with these teachers and we wanted to show them how much we appreciate all they do. Go here if you want the template to make these yourself.

Silas & Nic

Silas really loves his baby brother. Every chance he gets, he grabs Nic and squeezes him and tells him, "You're so coot!" Love it!

So sweet:

Nic was getting a little tired of all the love here:

Guess who lost their first tooth . . .

Sophie did! She was so excited and couldn't wait to put it under her pillow. Is it just me or is 4 years old a little young to lose your first tooth?

Team 45 Missions Trip

Since the first week of June, Samuel and Elizabeth have been a part of Team 45 at church. They attended training every Wednesday from 8:30 until 3:30, learning how to teach and pray for people to receive Jesus, learning how to seek and listen to the Lord, and doing community service. One of their service projects was cleaning the The Little Lighthouse. The Little Lighthouse is a school for children w/ disabilities and this was the one project that Lizzy talked about the most. Some very good friends of ours, the Urbans, have adopted a little girl w/ Downs Syndrome and she attends this school. Lizzy loves Ava and was very excited to see where she went to school.

After doing all of their training and requirements, they set off on a missions trip last night to Galena, KS. They will be working during the day and holding services for children in the evenings. We dropped them off at the church last night and won't see them again until late Thursday evening. Aaron and I are very proud of them and the hard work they have put into this.

I know it was harder on me than it was on them to leave them at the church last night :( Please pray for them while they are away in Galena, as they work for the Lord!

Prize Winning Teeth Brushing

While the older kids were away at grandma's in Arkansas, these two got into their trophies, medals and ribbons. They found some medals to wear around their necks and attached a few ribbons:

Zoo Camp

The boys started zoo camp this week and they are really having a good time. Camp ends at 2:00, so they get to go to work w/ their daddy after camp. Here are some pics I took when I dropped them off the first morning.

Day Trip to Arcadia

Last Friday, we took a day trip to Arcardia, Ok. It is located near Edmond and is the home of two very unique sites. One of them is this round red barn. Here are some pics we took:

From the road:

Some friends of ours went w/ us. Here are all of the kids standing in front:

This is an old carriage that was inside. Silas wanted to get in it. When I told him no, he kept watching me to see if I was looking so he could sneak up in it.

A neat little replica of the barn:

Someone had made a bunch of these cars made out of cans:

This is a picture of the roof of the barn:

The other place we visited was Pops. It is a gas station/burger joint that has over 500 different kinds of pop. You can purchase any soda and they will make a shake or float for you. You can check it out at: http://www.pops66.com/. There is a 60 foot tall pop bottle outside that is all lit up at night.

The boys decided to get their own table:

If you get the chance to go, do it. The kids had a lot of fun!

Tweens

Our homeschool group, Alliance Homeschoolers, started having activities for the "tweens" in the group. They are children from 8-11 who are too old for the little kid activities, but too young for the teenage activities. So, their first get together was a lesson on cake decorating and there were 14 kids that showed up. Sammy, Lizzy and Sadie were able to participate and came home w/ these yummy delights!

Here is what Sadie created:

And, Sammys creation:

I thought they did a great job for their first time. And, we had lots of dessert for the next week!

They are looking forward to their next get together.

4th of July

I couldn't resist posting this picture of Henry and his cousin Lance from the 4th.

Bass Pro

Yesterday, I took the kids to Bass Pro. They are offering free workshops for kids on topics such as camping, shooting, animal detection, etc. The kids did the workshop on archery. They listened to a presentation about different types of bows, the parts of the bow, how to shoot and safety. They then went on a scavenger hunt in the store to answer questions about the presentation. Once they found the answers to the questions, they received an archery pin and a coupon for a free kid's meal. They had hay bales set up outside of Bass Pro for the kids to practice shooting. We had a lot of fun and we may go back on Thursday for the camping workshop.
