Me, before surgery. You can tell I am a little nervous:

Just minutes after he was born, they were already giving him a bath:

He had actually found his thumb and was sucking on it while under the warmer:

Happy 10th Birthday, Josie Elizabeth!

Lizzy was born on January 17, 2000. It was a holiday, Martin Luther King Day, and we had had company for the long weekend in anticipation of her being born. But, she waited to come late Monday night, after most of our company had gone home. I remember sitting in the rocker w/ Samuel wrapped across my belly that evening and having a few contractions. I wasn't sure if I was really in labor or not, but we decided to go ahead and go to the hospital. We left the house sometime after 10:00 p.m. and by the time we arrived at the hospital, I knew I was in real labor. She came so fast! The doctor rushed in for me to push a couple of times and she was here. She was born at 11:48 p.m. that night, weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces. I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life. Lizzy, we are so happy that God gave us our beautiful baby girl! Happy Birthday!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great time being with their family during the holidays. Here are just some of the memories we made this season. May God bless you this new year!

The boys came out of the shower and didn't realize they had switched their pajama pants with each other. Of course, I was happy to point this out to them and take a picture to embarrass them w/ when they are older.

The big kids playing w/ a new UFO toy that Meemaw and Papaw bought.

All of the children got snow boots this year, but I think Silas liked his sister's boots better than his own.

We did lots of baking to give away to our neighbors.

Silas was making sure his teddy bear got a drink. Packing up containers w/ goodies is hard work!

Breakfast conversation

One morning, I came into the kitchen to find Aaron making the kids bacon and eggs for breakfast. He asked each one of the children if they wanted a soft or hard egg. Henry said that he wanted a soft egg. So, Aaron cooked his egg and set his plate in front of him. When Henry cut into the egg, he said, "Look, my egg still has orange juice in it!"

Christmas Piano Competition

Last Saturday, Sam, Lizzy and Sadie played in a Christmas song competition. Here are the videos of their performances. I was manning the camera this time, need I say more. Sam and Lizzy got superior ratings. This was only the second time for Sadie to perform for judges and I think she was a little nervous. I think they all did a great job!

Sammy turns 11!

I remember calling Aaron at work, telling him that I think it is time for us to go to the hospital. As soon as he walked through the door, my water broke. We drove to Saint Francis during rush hour traffic that Monday afternoon. When we finally arrived, the doctor came in and told me that this baby would weigh no more than 7 1/2 pounds max. After pushing for two hours, Aaron Samuel Jr. was born at 10:48 p.m. I can still remember the look on the doctor and the nurses faces when Sammy's head came out. He weighed 9 pounds 14 1/2 ounces. I love telling about Sammy's birth, because he was our miracle baby. In the Bible, Hannah named her son Samuel, because she asked the Lord for him. When the doctors said that is was not possible, God heard our prayers and was faithful to Aaron and me. Happy Birthday, Samuel, asked of the Lord! We love you very much!
