Back at home

Aaron and I made it back from Kentucky around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. It was a long trip, but well worth it. We drove through Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and into Kentucky. It is amazing to see God's handiwork sprinkled throughout. The trees in the hills of Kentucky were turning their beautiful yellows and oranges and reds and it was breath taking to witness. I loved the farms in Indiana that sat so perfectly spaced w/ their barns and silos. I also loved the horse ranches in Lexington w their pristine white houses and black fences. I told Aaron that one day I would love to have a house w/ a "Kentucky" fence. I also enjoyed going through Louisville and St. Louis, and being the homeschooling mom, I found myself thinking about Lewis and Clark. We decided that we would have to bring the kids sometime and do a little unit study. But, I guess I would have to say that my favorite place was the little town of Russell, KY.

At first, I was a little nervous, because it was night when we first got there and we got a little lost. It was raining and we were on a curvy and winding road and there were a few street signs "missing." So, in my mind I kept thinking why would anyone want to live in a place like this. When I woke up the next morning, the first thing I saw out of the window was a beautiful dogwood tree w/ red leaves that sat right in front of one of the children's bedrooms. When I walked out the door of her home to go to the funeral, I fell in love w/ this place. Her house seemed to be so perfectly situated on a hill nestled in by trees. It was then I realized why my friend loves it there so much.

The funeral was very nice and I want to thank you all for praying for my friend, Teresa. She has a strong spirit and knows that God is w/ her every step of the way. She is blessed w/ family, friends, and a church that loves them there. Teresa, if you read this, know that there are many people out there praying for you and your children.

I love your descriptions of the beautiful scenery. I'm so glad for the update. Teresa and her family have been so on my heart this past weekend. I am so glad you were able to go and give her a hug.
